GUM Workbench by Metrodata GmbH

The latest version (June 1999 rev.1.2d) is available of this commercial application that was originally named Evaluation of Uncertainty and which is distributed by the Danish Technological Institute.

As might be deduced from the title, its methodology is consistent with the ISO Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement.

New Features include:

  • Configurable to run with an English, German, Danish or Italian interface, complete with HELP
  • Support for Greek letters, superscripts and subscripts in quantity names, descriptive texts and metrological units
  • Sorting of quantities in any order specified by the user
  • Enhanced facilities for linking together GUM Workbench files via import of quantities
  • Support for import of text associated with an imported input quantity
  • Support for user defined functions to facilitate handling of complex mathematical model equations
  • New built-in functions for conversion between degrees and radians
  • New built-in function for absolute value
  • New observation method 'SUS' added to bring the total number of methods supported to five
  • Improved handling of mathematical and numerical conflicts in the calculations
  • Export to HTML format using the clipboard or exporting to a file
  • A new option to see the previous budget table prior to recalculation
  • Improved navigation and new buttons for elegantly moving from one section of the software to the other
  • The important equation field may now be resized
  • Addition of a summary report to complement the full report
  • Ability to print to US letter paper size and landscape mode printing

This demo is complete except for the ability to save files or print/export modified versions of the included example analyses. A full, 100-page manual is freely available (even for this demo) in either Acrobat format or hardcopy from the distributor.
