BENIN
For most visitors to these pages, it's probably a surprise to learn of measurement-focused events taking place in Africa. Arrangements are underway in Cotonou for the African Committee of Metrology's 2009 conference. CAFMET was only formed in 2005 but there was representation from 25 countries at their last conference in Tunisia so there's certainly growing industrial and scientific interest in the "Dark Continent". The October 26-30th event is billed as the CAFMET Metrology Forum.... wonder where they got that idea?

The next Measurement Science Conference will again be held in southern Californian, this time in Pasadena, during 22-26 March.

EGYPT
Cairo has been announced as the venue of the 2010 conference organized by the African Committe of Metrology. It will take place 19 - 23 April.

KOREA
The next Conference on Precision Electromagnetic Measurements, hosted by Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS), will be held at Daejeon Convention Center on 13-18th June, 2010. The biennial CEPM originated in the USA and first took place in 1958. It's now a truely internatioanl event, having been held in the following countries so far: USA (14 times), Canada (3), Germany (2), UK (2), Italy, France, Netherlands, Japan and Australia. So, the 27th event in Korea marks only its second visit to Asia.
