Performance Measurement Systems for Equipment
Management Programs
About this Article
This article by Kevin
Bowe was presented at NCSL's symposium in 2000.
Abstract
New technologies have made it increasingly possible to design
and implement integrated test equipment management programs that
can truly manage test equipment inventories from the enterprise
business standpoint. There are as many ways to measure the performance
of an integrated equipment management program, as there are ideas
for what the program should be accomplishing. This paper explores
the range of issues faced when designing a measurement system for
your program including strategic alignment, views of relevant cost
and benefit, balancing your scorecard, common measurement frameworks
and special considerations. Example tools and results from program
implementations are shared.
