Fully-automatic DMM Calibration System

About this Article
This article by Yuko Hirota, Toshiaki Aoki and Masao Noguchi was presented at the NCSL 2000 Symposium and published in the Proceedings.

Abstract

The paper describes a fully-automatic calibration system for digital multimeters and includes estimation of its DCV measurement uncertainty. A robotic connection mechanism whose rating is more than 1000 V / 1 A / 1 MHz was developed for the system. By using compressed air to drive the mechanism, operator bias was eliminated as well as minimizing intrusive thermally induced voltages and improving measurement repeatability.
